Marjon Halmeyer-Roos
Music is a powerful medium that captivates us, evokes emotions, elicits physical responses, and stimulates our social interaction.
This presentation explores the benefits of Music Therapy for individuals with neurological disorders. We will focus on Neurological Music Therapy (NMTI), the therapeutic use of music as an intervention applied to sensory, speech- and language, cognitive, and motor dysfunctions after a neurologic event or diagnosis. The therapy is based on neuroscience research on how music is processed and perceived in the brain, and how we can use that as a tool to improve non-musical goals. Music Therapy also plays an important role in neurorehabilitation by improving self-acceptance, reducing anxiety and depression.
Join us for an interactive session as Halmeyer-Roos delves deeper into the application of Music Therapy and the therapeutic effects observed in individuals with neurological disorders.
