Director, Fundashon Alton Paas

Alton Paas is the Director of Fundashon Alton Paas, a non-profit organization dedicated to creating a future without limitations for people with spinal cord injury and other neurological disorders. Drawing from personal experience navigating an incomplete C6 spinal cord injury, Alton brings a unique perspective to his role.

Alton’s dedication to advocacy and accessibility has earned him recognition, including an invitation to speak at the Rehabilitation Conference by ALME-SLAP in 2019. He was instrumental in organizing the Curacao Inclusion Award and has been honored as one of the ‘1000 Awesome People of Curaçao.’ Known as an ambassador for accessibility, Alton is regularly sought out to assess the accessibility of buildings.

After his injury, Alton founded Fundashon Alton Paas and served as Chairman for a decade, overseeing various projects such as the TV program ‘Superando’, the inspiring birthday calendar initiative, and the accessible transportation service called Wheelee, among others. Following his tenure as Chairman, he transitioned to the role of Director, focusing on the operational aspects of the organization.

Throughout his tenure, Alton played a key role in organizing events like the Caribbean Spinal Cord Injury Congress. He established the AP Center, a post-rehabilitation care center, which now serves an average of 35 clients monthly. Additionally, he forged partnerships with the public and private sector to lower barriers to accessible transportation and promoted the manual for improving accessibility in Curaçao.
