Izzy Gerstenbluth is the director of the Curaçao Biomedical & Health Research Institution (CBHRI) and Head of the department of Epidemiology & Social Science of this institution.
Before he retired, he was head of the Department of Epidemiology & Research unit of the Public Health department of Curaçao as well as being the National Epidemiologist of Curaçao.
Izzy Gerstenbluth received his medical degree from the University of Groningen in the Netherlands. He worked as a general practitioner in Curaçao after which he obtained a MSc in Public Health Medicine from the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine.
He served as a board member of the Council on Health Research and Development (COHRED) from 1999-2005 and on the Advisory Committee on Health Research (ACHR) of the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) from 2007-2010.
